Double defeat for Mens teams

Both Mens teams crashed to defeat on Saturday.  The "A" lost agonisingly by 4-5 to Beauchief "D" whilst the "B" team lost  0-9 to Fulwood "C".

With a late change to the teams, the "A" team lined up with Richard Sagar and Jens Jeurnig playing at third couple.  In the first round Liam Rudge and Mick Mason lost to the firsts by 3-6, 1-6, Nick Johnson and Glyn Rudge beat the seconds by 7-5, 6-3 and Richard and Jens lost to the thirds by 3-6, 2-6.  2-1 to Beauchief.  In the second round Liam and Mick beat the seconds by 7-5, 6-3, Glyn and Nick beat the thirds by 6-4, 7-5 whilst Richard and Jens put up a great fight against the firsts but went down 6-7, 2-6. 3-3 after round 2.  With all to play for Liam and Mick beat the thirds by 6-4, 6-2, Glyn and Nick lost to the firsts by 2-6, 2-6 and Richard and Jens lost 3-6, 5-7.

 

Meanwhile at Fulwod the second team, affected by the late re-organisation, saw Danny Lidster and Dave Cotterill lose by 0-6, 0-6 to the firsts, by 0-6, 1-6 to the seconds and by 2-6, 2-6 to the thirds.  Alan and Mark Firth lost by 1-6, 0-6 to the firsts, by 4-6, 1-6 to the seconds and by 2-6, 4-6 to the thirds.  John Firth and Philip Blackburn lost 1-6, 0-6 to the firsts, 1-6, 0-6 to the seconds and 1-6, 0-6 to the thirds.
