Mixed fortunes for men's teams

It was mixed fortunes for the two Saturday men's teams on 8th May.  An early morning concession by Hallam Grange "D" saw the "B" team gain points without playing a shot whilst the "A" team lost out 6-3 to Buxton.  Two of the lost rubbers were on champions tie-breaks so the result would have been different had the team won the two instead of losing them.  In the end each Ridgeway couple beat the Buxton third pair but lost the others.  Liam and Mick lost to the first by 6-4, 2-6 and then lost the tie-break 11-9 after leading 7-3.  They lost to the seconds by 4-6, 2-6 but beat the thirds by 6-2, 6-2.  Glyn Rudge and Nick Johnson lost to the seconds by 2-6, 0-6, beat the thirds by 6-4, 6-0 but then lost a close game to the firsts by 2-6, 6-4 and losing the tie-break. James Haigh and Richard Sagar beat the thirds by 6-4, 6-0 but lost to the firsts by 0-6, 0-6 and to the seconds by 0-6, 1-6.

Coaching
Ridgeway Tennis Club runs coaching for all juniors from the ages of 5 to 17. For the youngsters, there is a Mini Tennis program which runs on Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. and for older juniors there are sessions on Monday evening. These do not run through the winter but will resume in Spring 2010.
