Men's "A" team beaten at home

Graves/ITI "A" team were too strong for Ridgeway's "A" team as they won the Late Summer League Division 1 match by 4-0.  Sounds like an easy win but it wasn't quite like that.  Liam Rudge and Mick Mason pushed the visitors really ahrd but lost to both couples after three hard sets.  Against the first couple they lost the first set by 3-6 but bounced back to win the second by 6-1 only to lose 6-3 in the third.  The match against the seconds took a similar course as the Graves pair took the first set by 7-5.  Liam and Mick then grabbed the second by 6-4 but were beaten by 6-3 in the third.

Meanwhile Glyn Rudge, playing for the first time since he withdrew from the Deuce S & D Men's Handicap Singles Semi- Final with injury, partnered Jens Jauerneg.  They lost to the seconds by 0-6, 2-6 but pushed the first couple harder but lost by 5-7, 3-6.  Glyn was a late call-up to the team when Nick Johnson could not play due to being admitted to hospital with kidney stones early on Friday morning.

Final match score: Rubbers 0-4, Sets, 2-8, Ganes 36-55.
