"Men's "B" team beat the weather but not Stocksbridge "B"

The Men's "B" team suffered a 5-4 defeat to Stocksbridge "B" on Saturday afternoon. Glyn Rudge and John Firth took all their three rubbers whilst Alan and Mark Firth took the fourth.

In the first round of rubbers Alan and Mark lost on a deciding tie-break after sets of 6-0, 2-6. Glyn and John beat the seconds by 7-6, 6-4 and Dave Cotterill and Danny Beevers lost to the thirds by 0-6, 3-6. Score 2-1 to the visitors.  In the second round Alan and Mark lost to the seconds by 2-6, 2-6 whilst Glyn and John beat the thirds on a tie-break after sets of 6-2, 4-6 and Dave and Danny lost to the firsts by 0-6, 1-6.  4-2 to Stocksbridge leaving Ridgeway needing all the last round rubbers to get a win.  They managed two of them with Alan and Mark beating the thirds by 6-3, 6-1 and Glyn and John beating the firsts by 6-1, 7-6. Dave and danny lost to the seconds by 4-6, 2-6.

Final match score was: Rubbers - 4-5, Sets - 8-10, Games - 71-84.
