"A" team show bouncebackability

A 6-3 home win against Brentwood "B" will hopefully clinch a place in Division 4 next season for the Men's "A" team.  In a slightly changed team Glyn Rudge partnered son Liam and they led the way winning all three rubbers. In the first round they beat the firsts by 6-3, 6-3 whilst Martyn Soar and James Haigh beat the seconds on a champions tie-break after sets of 7-5, 4-6. Mick Mason and Richard Sagar lost to the thirds by 3-6, 0-6.  2-1 up and in the second round Glyn and Liam beat the seconds by 6-1, 6-2, Martyn and James beat the thirds by 6-3, 7-6 whilst Mick and Richard lost to the firsts by 1-6, 3-6. It was now 4-2 to Ridgeway and the win was confirmed with Glyn and Liam beating the thirds by 6-1, 6-3. Martyn and James lost to the firsts by 2-6, 5-7 but Mick and Richard beat the seconds by 7-5, 6-4 to round off the win.

Final scores - Rubbers 6-3, Sets 11-7, Games 88-77. 

Coaching
Ridgeway Tennis Club runs coaching for all juniors from the ages of 5 to 17. For the youngsters, there is a Mini Tennis program which runs on Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. and for older juniors there are sessions on Monday evening. These do not run through the winter but will resume in Spring 2010.
