Men's "A" team march on

The Men's "A" team have overcome opponents, injuries and holidays to maintain their 100% record in Division 1 of the Mens Late Summer League.  With two matches left, the team have now won 7 out of 7 after Saturday's narrow victory over previously unbeaten Beauchief "A" played at Graves.  The team won by just three games, 39-36, on a countback after rubbers had been shared at 2-2 and sets at 4-4.

In the first round of matches Glyn and Liam Rudge beat the firsts by 7-6, 7-5 - taking the second set after being 5-3 down. Mick Mason and Nick Johnson also had a tight rubber against the seconds but lost by 3-6, 6-7.  This meant just one game advantage to Beauchief after the first round.  Glyn and Liam then set up the win by crushing the seconds by 6-0, 6-0.  Mick and Nick lost by 2-6, 2-6 to the firsts - scoring enough games to ensure the win.

In previous matches - Moorgate conceded on the 7th August giving a 4-0 win, Stocksbridge "A", who at the time were also unbeaten, were beaten by 3-1 on the 14th August and then Brentwood "A" by 4-0 on the 21st.  All these results have been achieved whilst a number of the team have had either holidays or injuries.
